Frequently Asked Questions

do we think of our own poses?

Definitely not! That is absolutely my job. I will guide you into poses and I’ll give you freedom to be yourself and have fun with it.

On average, how early do your couples book their wedding with you?

On average, couples typically book me 9-10 months before their wedding date. I also have plenty of couples that book 3 months and some that book 18 months in advance. It varies, but I always recommend reaching out sooner than later.

is there a deposit to hire you for portraits, engagements, family portraits, etc?

Yes! I always require a $50 non-refundable deposit to book a time/date for any of the above.

Do you have a travel fee?

For weddings + engagements, anything within 50 miles of Rocklin, CA is included.

Travel within California: I charge $.50/mile one way past the first 50 miles. This is both for gas and the time it takes for me to get there.

If we’re headed somewhere more than 4 hours away, I also request one or two night’s stay in a hotel just for my own safety! (Driving 8 hours & photographing an 8-10 hour wedding day is hard to manage in one day! )

Travel outside of California: I ask for flights for me and - possibly - a second shooter, at least two night’s stay in an airbnb/hotel, and the cost of a rental car. I do have a bucket list of locations that I do offer discounts for me to travel to!

can we have some of our photos edited magical and some rustic?

No. I only edit a gallery with the same consistent editing style. If you cannot pick however, I can edit 3 photos in both editing styles and send them to you so you can choose which one suits you best.

do you give discounts and if so, when?

I do! I offer discounts if a couple hires me in the following places:

Yosemite

Sand Dunes

Joshua Tree

Zion National Park, Utah

Kauai

Most European Countries (England, France, Switzerland, Austria, Greece)

Banff National Park, Alberta Canada

when do i get my photos back?

Portraits and engagements are delivered within 2 weeks of the shoot. Weddings are delivered within 3-6 weeks of the wedding date.

Do you deliver raws/unedited photos?

I don’t. I want you to see yourself at your best. I get rid of the unflattering blinking or bad angled photos. Also, a huge part of my brand is the editing involved.

how do i book you for my wedding date?

First, fill out the contact form on the Contact page. I will return your message within two days and if I am available for your wedding date, I will ask you to meet up for coffee or FaceTime call so we can get to know one another better. If all things align and you’re still interested in booking me for your wedding, I will then send you my contract. 50% of the final payment is required to book the date and should be given to me with the filled out contract. Once I receive payment and the contract, you are officially a Christa B Photography bride!

What kind of equipment do you use?

I carry two camera bodies: Canon 5D Mark III and Canon 6D.

I carry five lenses: 50 mm f/1.2, 70-200 mm f/2.8, 85 mm f/1.4, 35 mm f/2, and 24-105 mm f/4.

For editing, I use Macbook Pro and Adobe Lightroom.

Why should I hire you?

First, I am prompt. I strive to respond to emails and return photos in a timely manner. I have been told countless times, “Wow, thanks for the quick reply!” and “Dang, you sent those back so fast!” And this DOES NOT mean I don’t spend as much time perfecting them. I make sure they’re perfect before I send them to my clients.

Second, I get VERY invested. I get invested in my couples love stories. And I typically love the photos I return to my clients JUST AS MUCH as my clients. Because I spend so much time taking and editing the images, I love them a lot as well.

And third, I really want our time together to be an experience in which we become friends. I don’t ever want my clients to feel as though my services are just another transaction.

Christa recently shot our wedding and wow.. she is so affirming, sweet and professional! She captured and portrayed our special day like the fairy tale it truly was!
